Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
If I should die before I wake
I pray the Lord my soul to take

Everybody Wants
04:24
|
|||
If you wanna play the game
If you wanna wear the name
You'll find yourself in line
And waiting every time
If you wanna save some face
If you wanna win the race
Then you'll find it hard to see...
Everybody wanna be
Sexy, cool
Rich and beautiful
And alive
You give what you've got
To be what you're not
And at the end of the day
You give yourself away
If you only worship cool
And you’re scared to play the fool
Then you’re better off without
Embarrassment of doubt
If you want to play that way
If you don’t like what they say
Then you gotta keep in mind…
Everybody wanna be
Sexy, cool
Rich and beautiful
And alive
You give what you've got
To be what you're not
And at the end of the day
You give yourself away
If you wanna play the game
If you wanna wear the name
You'll find yourself in line…
Everybody wanna be
Sexy, cool
Rich and beautiful
And alive
You give what you've got
To be what you're not
And at the end of the day
You give yourself away

Tyendinaga
04:06
|
|||
Near Oshawa, the 401 lays like a ribbon on the ground
On either side as you drive by the factories and sleepy towns
Not far from there where I grew up, Tyendinaga was my home
I remember pain and angry days that I did not escape till I was grown
Till I was grown
As the years went by my wife and I left behind Ontario
We made a life on U.S. soil, better than the one we’d known
But the breath of God brings a breeze to reap the crop that you did sow
Though the USA was good to us, when the letter came we had to go
Go back home
Tyendinaga called me back
And showed me where to go
And opened up the door for me
To learn the things I know
The Blessed Beauty taught me then
About what I’m here to do
I learned the things you give up for love
And what it then gives back to you
Near Oshawa, the 401 lays like a ribbon on the ground
Amazing grace there came to me, I once was lost now I’m found
It was in that place I found true north, and turned my face towards the east
The sun shone down upon me there until the day my soul released
To go back home

The Long Road
03:22
|
|||
I began walking a long long time ago
Despite the voices of those who told me not to go
Though the sun did burn and the wind did blow
I knew there was so much more left to know
I walked to the east to the center of the world
And I did not pause along the way
Though the waters were deep and the nights were cold
I walked through to the break of day
My feet on the ground
My feet on the ground
There was ice in my eyes and was mud in my veins
My feet were broken, aching in pain
I was hungry and tired in the sun and the rain
The only shelter I had was the sound of your name
And I found you on the mountain on your throne in white flowing robes
I laid down my burdens and prayed because I knew I was home
My feet on the ground
My feet on the ground

Dear John
04:03
|
|||
I ain't gonna be
I ain't gonna be your fool no more
So tired so tired
Of being your slave all night and day
You're my weathervane
You're my weathervane
You're my weathervane when you turn from east to west
The winds are blowing harder now
With a darkness and unrest
And all my friends say
And all my friends say
And all my friends say I waste my tears on you
And all my friends say
And all my friends say
And all my friends say I waste my...
All I can do
All I can do
I sit here in this rocking chair
I sit here in this rocking chair
I sit here in this rocking chair
And I rock these blues away
Rock these blues away
Rock these blues away
Lord have mercy

Lightning Rod
05:18
|
|||
I'm your lightning rod, baby
When your storm rolls over me
I'm your lightning rod, baby
When your storm rolls over me
Your thunder and your lightning
Is all ever see
You're my weathervane, darling
You turn from east to west
You're my weathervane, darling
You turn from east to west
As the winds are blowing harder
With a darkness and unrest
The hurricane and thunder
Crash upon the ground
The hurricane and thunder
Crash upon the ground
But the human heart within me
Breaks without a sound
And I know a hard rain's gonna fall
I'm your lightning rod, baby
Every bolt goes through my soul
I'm your lightning rod, baby
Every bolt goes through my soul
I'm filled up on your electricity
But there's only so much I can hold

Little Moon
04:08
|
|||
Little moon
You fall behind
Your ground shaking
As you orbit out of time
The churning soil
On your pallid face
Heartbroken
In your lonely outer space
You stand alone
As your brothers pass you by
Your singing sisters
Never notice when you cry
Oh to be a little moon out there
Wondering if we notice
Wondering if we care
The little moon
Just seeking out the sun
So she can mirror light
To everywhere and everyone
The little moon
That watches stars shine down
Wait for the dawn
The sun will bring your crown
One day it comes
And the dawn arrives
The light resplendent
From the mirrors in your eyes
Little moon
Leave your fear behind
Wipe your tears and look to heaven
It's your time to shine
Fill the heavens with your halo
The time has come to shine

Beautiful You
04:52
|
|||
My heart my heart my heart for you
Which once was one but now is two
Two flowering roses in the sun
Warm and bright to everyone
Beautiful, beautiful you
Beautiful, beautiful you
I held your hand when you were just new
You were a dream that came to be true
You've always been the reason why
As days are passed and years go by
I'm happy though I'm growing old
Cause I still have your hand to hold
My heart my heart my heart for you
Which once was one but now is two
Two angels that I do adore
Your daddy loves you evermore

I think I remember your face
From the pawn shop where I bought my bass
You guys are taking names at this place
Hey man, I like your band
You guys got a pretty good shtick
Your frontman sure does know the trick
To play like Jimi and sing like Mick
Hey man, I like your band
It's a long way to the top
If you wanna rock and roll
I met your girlfriend at the bar
She said by now all should be stars
I don't know if I'd go that far
But hey man, I like your band
Bands may come and bands may go
But I'll tell you one thing that I know
You gotta go on with the show
Hey Man I like your band
It's a long way to the top
If you wanna rock and roll
Hey Man, I like your band
It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll
Hey man, I like your band
You gotta make some friends or you'll be left out in the cold
Some guys and me were jamming
Weekends, evenings when we could
But we've been practicing more lately
And we're getting pretty good
We sound like Judas Priest and Skrillex
And Nirvana and the Cure
With some Red Hot Chili Peppers
And a singer like Midge Ure
So if you're gonna make a record
And you're gonna do some shows
We'd be a great opening act for
Your world tour when you guys go
So here's a napkin with my number
And my Facebook user name
Cause dude you gotta make connections
If you wanna play the game
Hey Man, I like your band
It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll
Hey man, I like your band
You gotta make some friends or you'll be left out in the cold
Hey Man, I like your band
Hey Man, Hey Man
Hey Man, I like your band
Hey Man, Hey Man

Spider Climbing Spider
01:39
|
|||
A noiseless, patient spider,
I mark’d, where, on a little promontory, it stood, isolated;
Mark’d how, to explore the vacant, vast surrounding,
It launch’d forth filament, filament, filament, out of itself;
Ever unreeling them—ever tirelessly speeding them.
And you, O my Soul, where you stand,
Surrounded, surrounded, in measureless oceans of space,
Ceaselessly musing, venturing, throwing,—seeking the spheres, to connect them;
Till the bridge you will need, be form’d—till the ductile anchor hold;
Till the gossamer thread you fling, catch somewhere, O my Soul.

Tarantella

I do believe
I do perceive
I do remember seeking
My heart's reprieve
Something happened long ago
And this is how my story goes
Arachne keeps me on a tether
Straining here like this forever
And I try to let it go
I try to leave it alone
I do believe
I do perceive
I do remember seeking
My soul’s reprieve
Something still distracts me now
Something made me break a vow
Spider climbing spider in me
Something inside won't forgive me
And I try to let it go
I try to leave
I tried to let you know
I loved you long ago
I look back and then I
Touch the past and wait and then I
Watch the sun dissolve and then
Another day is lost forever
I dance to weep, dance for rage, dance for hate, dance for pain, dance for death
We dance, we cry, we waste our precious songs on fear
I dance for something more now
Turn my face towards the dawn as
Best I can with poison in me
Dancing till the heartbeat cures me
Dance until I please you
Dance and never leave you
And I try to let it go
I try to leave it alone
I tried to let you know
I loved you long ago
I tried to let you know

Red Heaven Ottawa, Ontario

Red Heaven’s Joel Tamas (guitar and voice), Trevor Lubin (guitar), Jake Ferrera (drums), Cyrus Tearlach Robertson Orkish (bass), and Allison Bruneau (voice). Someone once told me the band sounds like umami tastes. ... more
